Toyota launches rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as Rumion MPV

Toyota Bharat has revealed the Rumion MPV for the Indian market. This is nothing but the Maruti Ertiga. Toyota will be launching the MPV in the upcoming days. It will be offered in six variants along with a CNG option as well.

Toyota Rumion : More Details

The Rumion will be another MPV in the Toyota stable. It joins the Innova Crysta, the Innova Hyryder and the Vellfire.
Compared to the Ertiga, the Rumion has a few differences. These include an Innova-esque grille, new front bumper and dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Rumion MPV comes with beige and faux wood trim, beige seats and fabrics and more. Interestingly, Toyota sells the Rumion in South Africa with an all-black theme. Other features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control and cruise control.

The Toyota Rumion will be offered in S, G and V variants. Amongst these, all will get the manual transmission while the automatic will be offered in S and V trims only. CNG is offered in S MT.

Powertrain of the Toyota Rumion

The MPV will carry with its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This motor develops 103 HP and 137 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox.

Toyota Maruti Suzuki tie-up

In India, Maruti is already supplying the Baleno hatchback to Toyota which is sold as the Glanza. For a while, the Brezza too was supplied but later discontinued. Meanwhile, Toyota supplies Maruti with the Innova Hycross and manufactures the Grand Vitara as well in its Bidadi plant.

Overseas, Maruti supplied Toyota with the Ciaz, which is sold as the Belta, Celerio which sells as the Vitz and the Baleno hatch which is nothing but the Starlet.
