Toyota launches G MT variant for Glanza hatchback priced at INR 6.98 lakh

Toyota has launched a new manual variant for the Glanza hatchback. Based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Glanza is probably a car with the least amount of effort put in by any car manufacturer as it just gets new logos and a front grille which is different compared to the Baleno. Toyota has now launched the Glanza G MT variant in India priced at INR 6.98 lakh ex-showroom.

This G MT variant of the Glanza is powered by a 1.2L, K12M series petrol engine which does not get SHVS technology. Previously, the Glanza only was sold with the K12N, 1.2L Dualject motor with mild-hybrid. This new variant without the SHVS technology is cheaper by INR 24,000 allowing for a lower access point for Baleno buyers. This engine without the mild-hybrid delivers 21.01 kmpl of mileage which is lesser than the 23.87 kmpl figure of the SHVS variant.

The Toyota Glanza G MT variant has a BS6 compliant petrol engine which produces 83 HP of power and 113 Nm of torque compared to 90 HP & 113 Nm of the SHVS variant. The Glanza also comes with a CVT gearbox option for those wishing for the convenience of an automatic.

The Glanza is sold in G & V variant lines based on the Zeta & Alpha trims of the Baleno respectively.

Glanza is the first car to be launched under the Toyota-Suzuki joint venture. Maruti Suzuki will in the near future hand over the Vitara Brezza, Ciaz & Ertiga to Toyota to be rebadged and sold in Toyota showrooms. Maruti Suzuki, or Suzuki rather will benefit in learning more with the development of hybrid and electric powertrains. Both brands are also developing a new C-segment MPV which will slot below the Innova and will be sold probably in Nexa showrooms.

Since launch in June 2019, Toyota has sold over 11,000 units of the Glanza in India. Toyota has more faith in the product and offers 3-year / 100,000 km warranty as standard while the donor Maruti Suzuki only offers 2-year / 40,000 km warranty on the Baleno.
