Toyota has restarted bookings for the Innova Crysta. While Toyota has not yet revealed the prices, interested customers can book the car by paying a token amount of INR 50,000 at their nearest dealership or online.
The Japanese carmaker will position the Innova Crysta below the new Innova Hycross in the company’s line-up.
What’s new in the 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta
The updated Innova Crysta is available in four variants. There are G, GX, VX and ZX. The seating configuration includes seven or 8-seater layout options. In terms of visual changes, the 2023 Innova Crysta gets a revised front end with a new grille and a new-design bumper. The bumper holds the fog lamps and the turn indicators. There is a fair amount of chrome involved as well.
Coming to the insides, Toyota has equipped the 2023 Innova Crysta with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also comes with an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, rear auto air conditioner with a display, seat back tray tables and ambient lighting.
Powertrain of the 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta
The Japanese carmaker will offer the MPV only with a 2.4-litre diesel engine. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In terms of performance, this engine makes 148 HP and 360 Nm of torque. There is no automatic gearbox on offer.
Toyota Innova Crysta positioned to not cannibalize the Innova Hycross
The Innova Hycross gets petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options but, interestingly, no diesel engine. The strong-hybrid powertrain is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder motor with Toyota’s fifth-gen strong hybrid tech (M20A-FXS). Like most Toyota hybrid units, this engine uses an Atkinson to help with fuel efficiency. Further, the hybrid powertrain makes a combined output of 186 HP, and the powertrain comes mated to an e-Drive transmission.
Hence it is likely that Toyota wants to keep the Innova Crysta solely for the fleet markets or those preferring chauffeur-driven options.
