Toyota showcased the Black Edition Hilux at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The all-black iteration of the pickup truck attracted numerous potential customers. Now, the company has launched the Black Edition in India, with a price tag of Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
While it upholds the same standard model, the Black Edition is more about cosmetic enhancements. As the name suggests, it is an all-black model that gets blacked-out ORVMs, a front grille, body cladding, skid plates, and 18-inch alloy wheels draped in glossy black paint.
The interior design of the Hilux is already all-black, hence, the Black Edition model does not feature any special changes on the inside. However, it comes loaded with the top-spec features that include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless phone connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, leather upholstery, power adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, and more.
Propelling the Hilux is the robust and reliable 2.8-litre, turbo-diesel engine that is also used on the Fortuner. It has been tuned differently to provide the pickup truck with better low-speed torque. It produces 204 bhp and 500 Nm of peak power and torque, while the gearbox is a reliable 6-speed automatic torque converter unit.
The off-road driving package of the Hilux includes an electronic differential lock and an automatic limited-slip differential. It also gets shift-on-fly 4X4 drive mode buttons on the centre console that can be used to tackle the varying terrain as per the requirements.

The Hilux is an undefeated pickup truck in the global market due to its ultra-reliable setup and powerful off-road capabilities. However, its sales in India have been modest due to its high sticker price. With the Black Edition, Toyota is aiming to revive its low sales in India.
