Toyota has finally launched the Glanza hatchback. Now, not many were waiting for this premium hatchback, because it already exists in the nearest Nexa showrooms from Maruti Suzuki. The Toyota Glanza is nothing but a badge engineered Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and a bad one at that. With just the logos being swapped, a new grille and variant badges slapped; Toyota is claiming to have introduced a premium hatchback for the Indian market.
The Toyota Glanza has prices starting from INR 7.22 lakh ex-showroom.
The Toyota Glanza is being offered only in petrol engines. However, there are 2 petrol options to buy and both engines are BSVI compliant. The 1.2L, K12B petrol engine which is a 4-cylinder motor produces 83 HP of power and 113 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox while the 1.2L, K12C, DualJet motor produces 90 HP of power and 113 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Toyota claims that the Glanza with the K12B engine will deliver 21.01 kmpl of mileage, K12C SHVS engine will deliver 23.87 kmpl of mileage and the CVT automatic variants will deliver 19.56 kmpl of mileage. The mileage figures are also identical to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
What makes the Glanza a better package overall compared to the Baleno is that it comes with a 3-year / 100,000 km warranty as standard. The Baleno only comes with a 2-year / 40,000 km warranty. Now if you compare entry level prices, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno starts at INR 5.58 lakh ex-showroom, but that is for the base variants. The Glanza on the other hand comes with the top spec trims only, no low-cost, no-feature variants.
