Toyota has been planning to introduce the new facelift Fortuner in a world premiere around mid-2020 but new spied images of the facelift mode have been circulating the internet that shows the new Fortuner sans camouflage. The car is likely to been seen in the South-East Asian market, probably in Thailand where it is expected to be introduced in the coming months.
According to the spied images, the new facelift model features refreshed styling on the exteriors. The facelift model receives a new design grille, angular front bumper with trapezoidal inserts on the fog lamp area that replace the triangular ones on the current model, an angular trapezoidal front apron, sleek wraparound LED headlamp units, integrated LED daytime running lights, raised bonnet, large alloy wheels, squared-off wheel arches, sidestep, blacked-out roof, blacked-out pillars and the rear, though not clearly visible in the spy shots is expected to get new design tail lamp units and a refreshed rear bumper with aero ducts flanking it.
The Interiors are also likely to receive an upgrade in terms of its infotainment system along with minor changes in the equipment. Currently, the Toyota Fortuner sold in India comes with a multilayered dashboard with soft-touch leather and metallic accents, chamois colour upholstery & cabin trim, centrally mounted 7-inch infotainment system with integrated satellite navigation, automatic climate control air-conditioning, Optitron instruments cluster with a soft touch hood, LED co-ordinated cabin lighting, control mounted steering wheel etc.
In the engine department, the facelift Toyota Fortuner in India is likely to continue with the BS6 emissions-compliant version of the 2.7-litre in-line four-cylinder 16-valve dual VVTi DOHC petrol engine that produces 166 ps of power and 245 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed automatic unit with sequential shift + paddle-shift + shift lock. The Fortuner is also available in a Diesel variant powered by a 2.8-litre in-line four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC diesel engine with a variable nozzle turbocharger and intercooler that makes 177 ps of power and 420 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission with iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) or a 6-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift + paddle-shift + shift lock.
The facelift Toyota Fortuner is likely to debut in the ASEAN market but Toyota is expected to launch a special edition Toyota Fortuner based on the pre-facelift model in India.
