According to a media report, Toyota could be evaluating to launch the Toyota RAV4 SUV in the Indian market. The brand is likely to import the RAV4 in limited number under the homologation free import rule with the intention of promoting the brand’s hybrid technology as well as reinforcing the brand’s SUV line-up in the Indian market.
The Toyota RAV4 is a global SUV and is underpinned by the Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA) platform and in terms of the exterior dimensions the crossover SUV measures 4,600mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,685mm in height with a 2,690mm wheelbase, 195mm of ground clearance and is available in an All-Wheel Drivetrain in the international market.
On the exterior, the Toyota RAV4 features a large imposing grille with angular features, geometrical front apron, satin silver treatment on the air dam, upswept headlamps with projector lamps, integrated LED daytime running lights, squared-off wheel arches, large alloy wheels, chrome window sills, front and rear skid plates and wraparound taillamps, etc.
On the inside, the Toyota RAV4 features a multi-layered dashboard with a large centrally mounted infotainment system, automatic climate control, a chunky gear selector, intelligent cubby holes and storage spots, contoured seats, analogue instrumentation with a digital multi-information display, control mounted steering wheel etc.
The Toyota RAV4 is powered by an A25A-FXS series 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine that makes 218 hp combined power and 221 Nm of torque matched to a Dynamic Force Electronically controlled CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The brand is likely to bring the RAV4 with this petrol-hybrid motor for the Indian market. The SUV is also powered by an M20A-FKS 2.0-litre in-line four-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine that produces 173 hp of power and 208 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual and a Direct Shift CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), in the international market.
The Toyota RAV4 is likely to arrive at Toyota Kirloskar Motor dealerships by mid-2021 and likely to be offered with a price tag of around the INR 60 lakh mark.
