Toyota Camry Hybrid gets updates for 2021

European spec facelifted 2021 Toyota Camry gets minor updates to its styling. There are changes both in the interior as well as the exterior. The most significant change in the exterior is the new grille integrated neatly with a redesigned front bumper. The bars in the lower grille extend further and give the Camry a more aggressive and spirited look. Another main highlight comes from the interior, the Camry now comes with a new 9-inch infotainment touchscreen system. Now, this system comes with physical buttons and dials. The touchscreen display is placed a bit higher thus improving the ergonomics for usage. The software is updated to the latest version which is faster and supports both Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The new premium leather seat upholstery will be offered in two options: Beige and Black. For better seat ventilation, the new upholstery comes with herringbone pattern perforation. The two new options for the dashboard include Titanium Line and Black Engineered Wood pattern finishes. Toyota has given significant updates in the safety department as well. For starters, the updated Lane Trace Assist and Road Sign Assist helps to improve the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. Secondly, it features an updated Pre-Collison System which comes integrated with Emergency Steering Assist, Intersection Turn Assistance and daytime front-to-front oncoming vehicle detection.

In the mechanical department, there are no changes at all. The Toyota Camry uses the 2.5-litre four-cylinder ICE engine which is coupled to an electric motor and makes 218 PS of power. There is an EV mode wherein the car runs on the battery provided, however, the battery will last only for a km or so. The best situation to use this mode is in heavy bumper to bumper traffic. Toyota likes to call this the Hybrid self-charging electrified powertrain.

In India, the Camry is priced at around Rs 39.04 (Ex-showroom price). It is loaded with features like electrically adjustable front seats, paddle shifters, nine-speaker JBL audio system, a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, electrically adjustable steering column, three-zone climate control, nine airbags, traction control, ABS and much more.
