Toyota bringing back Land Cruiser Prado to India in 2025

Toyota could be planning to introduce the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in the Indian market. The latest -generation SUV made its debut in the international market last year and comes in two avatars – a standard as well as a 1958 edition with neo-retro elements. According to reports, the Land Cruiser Prado will come to India via the CBU route and is likely to be positioned below the Land Cruiser LC300 in India. Abroad, the Land Cruiser Prado comes with petrol-hybrid as well as a diesel powertrain options, however, India is likely to get only get the diesel powered Prado.

Internally known as the JC250 and sold as the LC250 in somme markets, the Land Cruiser Prado features a ladder frame chassis and is 50% more rigid than its predecessor. The SUV measures 4920mm in length, 1870mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2850mm. This means it is also larger and has more space on the interiors than the outgoing Prado. On the outside, the Land Cruiser Prado comes with a boxy design with a squared-off front fascia, and projector LED headlamps. The 1958 edition of the Land Cruiser Prado also comes with rounded headlamp giving it a period correct design.

Interiors

On the inside, the Land Cruiser Prado is quite modern and features a multi-zone climate control and heated & cooled seats and leather upholstery. The SUV also comes with physical switchgear large enough to be operated using gloves. The car also comes with a digital driver’s display as well as a new-generation infotainment system.

Powertrain

Powering the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Internationally, the car also gets a 2.4-litre hybrid-petrol engine which is similar to other Toyota and Lexus cars available in the North American and Middle Eastern markets.
