A popular US based custom motorcycle designer, Roland Sand Design from Los Almitos, California, has built one of the best looking KTM’s we’ve seen so far. Now we’ve seen a lot of custom motorcycles, but what makes this special is that the original bike was a KTM 450 SX. A motocross motorcycle converted to a track machine.
KTM approached Roland Sand Design to make a one of a kind motorcycle for them. RSD’s expertise in design and KTM’s parts has converged to bring us a beautiful piece of machine. The bike gets custom make tank cover and GP fairings. The handlebars have been dropped sing clip-ons and the riding position is now aggressive. A thin foam sheet is used for the seat as it is meant for the racetrack. They have done a brilliant job with the glittery paint scheme, it definitely looks ‘KTM’ at first glance.
The motorcycle uses a lot of aftermarket parts, some of them listed as below.
- KTM 250GP Fariing
- KTM 250GP Tail Section
- RSD Supersingle Tank Cover
- K&N Air Filter
- FMF Exhaust (KTM Hardparts)
- RC8 Rearsets (KTM Hardparts) w/ custom made adapters by RSD
- Alpina 17” Tubeless Supermoto Wheels (KTM Hardparts)
- Dunlop Race Slicks
- Vortex Clip-ons
- Race Tech Suspension
- I.D. Chain
- Radial Master Cylinder
- Oversized Supermoto front disc (KTM Hardparts)
- Renthal Grips
The RSD team did get to ride the bike on the track but only once though. KTM took possession of the bike later. Well our team at Shifting-Gears thinks the bike looks amazing! And now we are on the hunt if someone could customize the KTM duke like this for us!
