To celebrate 55 years of AMG, Mercedes Benz is presenting us with the ‘Edition 55’ models. There’s one ‘F1 Edition’ as well that speaks of Mercedes-Benz’s electrified future. Leveraging the tech from Formula One, this Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is the perfect representation of the Future of Driving Performance. Mercedes-Benz confirmed that very soon, this E Performance hybrid powertrain will be made available for other Mercedes-AMG models as well. With all the kit and equipment, there’s also a hefty price tag attached. For this ‘F1 Edition’, customers will have to pay EUR 23,800 extra, excluding all taxes.
Exterior Outlook
The paintwork of the car looks quite striking. The combination of non-metallic MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey and the foiling with the AMG logo makes it a head-turner for sure. Subtle touches of gradient from grey to black as well as the red colour accents further attenuate the outlook.
The 21-inch AMG branded wheels with a black matt finish with red rim flange, the same as we see with the Official FIA F1 Medical Car™ from Mercedes-AMG, add to the looks to a great extent. The Night Package Exterior and the AMG Night Package II add to the dynamic character of the car. High-gloss black finish for the front wings, exterior mirror housings, side edge trim, and window surrounds make it stand out in the crowd.
Technical Specifications
One highlighting mechanical kit is the Aerodynamic package. This package makes use of a fixed rear aerofoil in high-gloss black. There’s also an optimised diffuser integrated into the rear apron. The front apron gets a larger front splitter plus additional air deflector elements that further enhance the aerodynamic efficiency. The hybrid powertrain that utilises an electric motor and AMG High-Performance battery on the rear axle produces a combined power output of 843 HP. The equipped aerodynamic package also adds to handling characteristics at high speeds. This kit increases the negative lift force while reducing drag.
