Well, Hyundai has already announced the launch of their new Grand i10 Nios hatchback for the Indian market on the 20th of August, 2019. Now, if the Grand i10 is moving a step ahead, it is obvious that the Xcent compact sedan is also going to get an update. Spotted testing, the images you see here are of the new generation compact-sedan from Hyundai. It is now known what the brand will call this product at the moment, so let’s just call it the Xcent Nios since it will be based on the Grand i10 Nios.
We expect Hyundai to debut this new generation Xcent at the Auto Expo 2020. The 2020 Hyundai Xcent Nios will be a step ahead in every department compared to the current model, and will also be launched with new and improved BSVI ready engines. The new generation Xcent will most likely co-exist with the current model going to be sold only to the taxi market.
The spyshots clearly reveal that the front fascia of the new Xcent is shared with the Grand i10 Nios. You can notice the headlamps, fog lamps and LED DRLs to be identical. For subtle changes and differentiation, Hyundai could add a smoked effect, some chrome accents and other such minor details between the Grand i10 Nios and Xcent.
Seen from the side, the 2020 Xcent looks to have a curvaceous profile compared to the current model. The roof line, the window sill area, the shoulder line are different. Expect 15″ / 16″ dual tone alloy wheels on offer along with LED turn indicators, chrome door handles, keyless entry request sensors, door body moulding to be on offer.
The rear of the 2020 model spotted testing reveals LED tail lamps, reflectors on the bumper, number plate housing on the rear bumper, high mount stop lamp, reversing camera around the number plate housing and 2 neck restraints for the rear occupants.
Hyundai will launch the 2020 Xcent Nios with a 1.2L petrol and 1.2L diesel engine option. The petrol variants are expected to get an AMT gearbox and there could be as many as 10 variants on offer during the time of launch. Expect a marginal price hike on the new generation models, especially since BSVI engines are now going to be plonked under the hood.
