Tata Motors will rejig the entire line-up for the Nano hatchback in the near future. The current plan suggests that the brand could completely discontinue the entry level, non-power steering equipped variants and replace them with a new base variant with the EPS.
Out of the 4 variants currently on sale only the top end, and the CNG variant will be continued which are the Nano Emax XM and the Nano Twist XT. The lower Lx and Cx variants will now be replaced with a new Nano Twist Xe variant which will have the power steering as standard.
Additions in the Twist Xe (for base models) includes a new instrument cluster with Driver Information System comprising of a trip meter, digital clock, DTE and average fuel economy.
Pricing of the Nano Twist XE will be higher than the current base model with the addition of EPS. This will then raise a question in the minds of a few, is this the same 1 lakh rupee car which costs more?
