Tata has upgraded the Nexon SUV by removing the infotainment control buttons present on the dashboard fascia. The new Tata Nexon gets a ‘Nexon’ branding in chrome finish in place of the row of buttons which included physical hot keys for the touchscreen system such as Home, Favourites, Previous/Next, Smartphone and Back. The row also consisted of two rotary dials one for volume and another to tune the radio channel. It is likely that the functions now integrate within the touchscreen system itself making the dashboard fascia cleaner and minimalist than before.
At the beginning of 2020, Tata launched the facelift version of the Nexon which came in with the new BS6 compliant powertrain. The brand also made changes to the exteriors such as the new headlamps with projectors, LED daytime running lights with new light signatures, a new radiator grille, black finish ORVMs, 16-inch alloy wheels, new LED taillamps with new light signatures, dual-tone roof shark-fin antenna and features such as X-shape applique on the rear with an ivory white finish.
The brand also introduced new functions on the interiors such as a flat-bottomed steering wheel, full-digital instruments cluster, new tri-arrow accents on the dashboard and seat upholstery, cooled glovebox, a new XPressCool function that cools the cabin with the touch o a single button and is especially helpful when the car is parked under the sun for a long period of time. The Nexon also features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Powering the Nexon is a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron turbo-petrol engine that makes 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. The Nexon also comes with a diesel motor, a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre Revotorq turbo-diesel oil-burner that produces 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed AMT transmission.
