Tata Tigor EV pre-bookings now open, launch on 31st August 2021

Tata Motors unveiled the all-new Tigor EV in the Indian market. The brand also revealed that the new Tata Tigor EV will come with Ziptron powertrain technology, which made its debut on the successful Tata Nexon EV. Tata also announced today that the pre-bookings on the Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron are now open at select Tata Dealerships at INR 21,000. Customers can also book the all-electric Tigor from Tata’s dedicated website online, and from the safety of the home.

The Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron technology will follow the path of the Nexon EV. The all-electric Nexon EV claims to have captured nearly 70% market share in the electric vehicle industry in India. The Tigor EV is the brand’s second EV option from the company with Ziptron technology, a well-proven state-of-the-art high voltage electric architecture. According to Tata, the Tigor EV is built of three main pillars Technology, Comfort and Safety. The Tata Tigor EV comes packed with technologies in the infotainment, connectivity, comfort, smoothness, powertrain, and charging departments.

Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron – Design and Styling

The Tata Tigor EV draws the design from the ICE Tigor but differentiates itself by having EV-specific changes. The Tigor EV like the Nexon EV features the signature Teal Blue colour. The front fascia of the Tigor EV also comes with a Blue underline on the blank-out grille. The Tigor EV features a wide air dam with air intakes to improve the thermodynamic efficiency of the power unit and battery. The car also comes with LED DRLs in the foglight area and projector headlamps. On the sides, the Tigor EV comes with dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels with a blue accent. The compact sedan also gets wraparound clear taillamps and a progressive roofline that slopes far into the rear deck.

Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron – Interiors and Features

The Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron comes with a multilayered dashboard with a dual-tone interior cabin. The Tigor EV features a black dashboard top with a beige underside. The air conditioning vents come with blue accents reinforcing its Electric Vehicle status. The centre console features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 30+ connected car features. These include remote commands and remote diagnostics. The cabin also claims to be silent and spacious with ample headroom and legroom for comfortable seating. The Tigor EV also comes with automatic climate control AC as standard, a rotary drive select knob and digital instruments cluster.

Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron – Power unit Specifications

Powering the Tata Tigor EV is a 55 kW power and 170 Nm electric motor. The power unit comes with Ziptron electric technology and is capable of sprinting from 0-60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. The electric car also comes with an efficiently packaged 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The brand boasts of providing the highest onboard energy in the segment. The Tigor EV also comes with a low Centre of Gravity and a balanced suspension setup offering a comfortable ride.

The brand revealed that the battery can be charged using a fast charger from 0-80% SOC in just 1 hour. The car also features a regenerative braking system that helps improve the driving range. Unfortunately, the brand has not revealed the driving range of the Tigor EV. But we speculate that the Tigor EV will come with a range of around 250 km on a single charge.

Tata Tigor EV with Ziptron – Safety & Warranty

Tata revealed that the Tigor EV with Ziptron will come with 8 years and 160,000 Km battery and motor warranty. The IP67 Battery is Impact Resistant and complies with AIS – 048 standards for nail penetration at Cell Level. The EV is based on a platform that features a Rear Crash compatible structure and also complies with ODB 64 test standard. The Tigor EV also features the globally acceptable CCS2 charging protocol. The car can also be slow charged at home from any 15A plug point.
