Indian car giant Tata sells over 7,000 units every month of its popular hatchback, the Tata Tiago, and since it’s launch in March 2016 it has sold over 1.7 lakh units. Its sibling, the Tata Tigor sells around of 2,000 units per month and hasn’t been so successful as compared to the Tata Tiago. Tata, in October of 2018 updated their Tigor. The updated version was the new XZ+ trim in the Tata Tigor sedan. The hatchback, Tata Tiago got the same updates in December 2018.
The Tata Tiago & Tigor now come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen by Harman which supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The cars also now get faux leather seats, power folding ORVMs, projector headlamps, driver side height adjustment and the likes. The touchscreen system used to get Android Auto before, but now it also comes with Apple smartphone connectivity.
The Tiago measures 3746mm in length, 1647mm in width and 1535mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2400mm, while the Tigor measures 3992mm in height, 1677mm in width and 1537mm in height with a wheelbase of 2450mm. The cars get a ground clearance of ranging between 165-170 mm depending on variants. The boot space on the Tiago is 242-litres and on the Tigor is 419-litres.
In the engine department, both the vehicles do not see any changes and are still available with two powertrain options – 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron petrol producing 85 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque @ 3500 RPM coupled to a 5-speed manual or AMT (Automated Manual Transmission), and a 1.05-litre, three-cylinder Revotorq diesel producing 70 PS of Power @ 4000 RPM and 140 Nm of torque @ 1800-3000 RPM mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both the engines come with multi-drive modes.
The Tiago XZ+ which comes in the diesel engine option is priced at INR 6,48,688 Ex-Showroom, Mumbai and the Tiago XZ+ with dual tone roof is priced at INR 6,55,688 Ex-Showroom, Mumbai. The Tata Tigor XZ+ diesel is priced at INR 7,64,802 Ex-Showroom, Mumbai.
