Tata Tiago iCNG Review

Tata recently introduced the Tiago iCNG in the Indian market. The Tiago iCNG is the brand’s first CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) powertrain hatchback. The rise of fuel cost and the increasing pollution especially in metro cities has led customers towards affordable and greener solutions. CNG has a solution for both. The gas is nearly half the cost of petrol and comparatively produces less CO2 emissions, hitting two birds with one stone.

Tata Tiago iCNG – Price

The Tata Tiago iCNG comes with a starting price of INR 6,09,900 ex-showroom. The brand offers four variants – XE, XM, XT and XZ+. The top-of-the-line XZ+ goes up to INR 7,52,900 ex-showroom. The mid-spec XM and XT come with a price tag of INR 6,39,900 ex-showroom and INR 6,69,900 ex-showroom.

Tata Tiago iCNG Vs. Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Engine Specification Comparison

Powering the Tata Tiago iCNG is a 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder engine. The engine produces 73.4 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque in CNG mode. The same engine in petrol mode makes 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and no option of an AMT gearbox as provided on the petrol-only models.

On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG comes with a 998cc three-cylinder aluminium-type K10C CNG engine. The engine produces 56.7 PS of power and 82.1 Nm of torque in CNG mode. While in petrol, the engine makes 64 PS of power and 89 Nm of torque. The brand offers the engine only with a 5-speed transmission.

Tata Tiago iCNG Vs. Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Mileage

As certified by a Test Agency Under Rule 115 (G) of CMVR 1989, the Tata Tiago iCNG return a mileage of 26.49 km/kg. The brand offers a 60-litre water capacity CNG tank and a petrol tank capacity of 35-litres. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG comes with a whopping mileage claim of 35.60 km/kg as certified by a Test Agency Under Rule 115 (G) of CMVR 1989. The claimed mileage is also supported by independent research agency JATO Dynamics.
