Tata teases Altroz DCT petrol automatic variant, launch soon

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Tata Motors announced that the brand’s popular hatchback, the Tata Altroz, is celebrating National Science Day (28th February). The brand revealed through a social media post that a new version of the Tata Altroz hatchback would be coming soon to the Indian market. The Tata Altroz hatchback is likely to come with a new DCT automatic transmission. The brand also showcased the shifter of the upcoming automatic transmission Altroz.

Tata Altroz – Automatic Gearbox

In 2020, there were reports that Tata is testing the Altroz with an automatic transmission. The development mule is said to be using a DCT automatic transmission. The DCT automatic is likely to be paired with the naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine. The brand is not likely to offer the automatic gearbox on the i-Turbo (Turbo-Petrol) model. However, Tata Motors has also tested the DCT automatic with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, but reports suggest that the engine gearbox combination is proving to be too expensive for our market. Instead, the naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine with 86 Hp of power is likely to be the choice for the AT version.

Tata Altroz – Variant & Features

The Tata Altroz automatic is likely to be available only on the top-of-the-line XZ+ trim. In this trim, the Altroz features 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster and a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car is also likely to feature iRA connected features, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control and leatherette upholstery.

Tata Altroz – Launch Timeline and Competition

The Tata Altroz is likely to make its debut later this month, however, the exact timeline is not yet revealed. The Tata Altroz automatic will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno AMT, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20 in the Indian market.
