Tata is planning to launch the Sierra in a new electric avatar. The brand showcased the Sierra EV at the 2020 Auto expo in Delhi stunning everyone with its futuristic yet nostalgic design. However, it was not confirmed if the brand will be putting the concept car into production. In addition to this, Tata had not revealed if the Sierra will be an ICE or Electric at that time. However, the Sierra was once again showcased by the brand and revealed that the Sierra if put into production will come only in the electric avatar.
Now a media report reveals that the 4,150mm long Sierra EV will be arriving on Indian roads by 2026. This is backed up by the second concept which the brand showcased at the 2022 Auto Expo. The second concept which was displayed at the biennial event featured 5-doors and also looked production ready. This also leads us to believe that the company could be planning to bring the car soon. But, how soon? Media reports reveal that the Sierra EV is likely to be launched in FY2026.
The Tata Sierra EV is likely to use the Acti.EV platform which debuted on the Tata Punch EV and is also likely to underpin the upcoming Harrier EV. Expect the Tata Sierra EV to come with a design reminiscent of the 1990s Sierra which came with a 3-door design and featured a large side window. However the Sierra eV is likely to come with 5-doors the window from the old Sierra could be replicated using a large blacked-out C- and D-pillar. Also, the roofline is likely to be gloss black which could give it a panoramic window effect.
The Sierra EV is also likely to come with connected light signatures as well as a high-set bonnet line and a flat rear apron. On the inside, the car could come with an EV specific dashboard and controls which could include a round drive selector with a colour display as seen on the latest Harrier.
