The Tata Starbus Fuel Cell EV is the country’s first hydrogen fuel cell bus. It has been indigenously designed and developed by Tata Motors. The bus is aimed at fulfilling urban transportation needs. This modern, state of the art mobility offering will offer zero emissions and noise less operations.
For passenger comfort, the bus offers improved safety, easy boarding thanks to low entry and comfortable seats.
The bus measures 12m long with a6,300 mm wheelbase, 2,600 mm width and has a height of 3,350 mm. The overall gross vehicle weight is 19.5 tons. The top speed of the bus is 70-75 km/h and the maximum gradeability is 17 percent. The front brakes are discs while the rear duties are handled by drum brakes. EBS is offered on the braking system. The driver gets hydraulic power steering with optional tilt and telescopic adjustment.
The bus is equipped with an integrated motor generator with a maximum power of 245 kW. It also has a Li-ion battery pack of 25-30 kWh capacity. The fuel cell stack has a 75-100 kW new system power. The battery pack gets liquid cooling. The range of the bus is claimed to be 250-300 km on a single refuel. However, this can be scaled up as per the requirements.
