Tata Motors will unveil its latest offering, Punch, on October 4, 2021. The company has already revealed the micro-SUV’s design and interiors. And on October 4, we expect more details of the car. This includes the variant lineup, features offered and more. But, as it stands, Tata Motors won’t announce the price on this date. We can get the official price list by sometime in mid-October. However, Punch will open its bookings for October 4 itself. The car will first come with a naturally aspirated motor with plans for turbo-petrol and AMT gearbox for the future. We had first seen this car as the HBX concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019. Now, the micro-SUV is production-ready as the ‘Punch’.
The exterior outlook perfectly resembles the new Tata Motor’s design language. The front design with the split headlamp set-up and Humanity line grille will make you believe this is the younger sibling of the Harrier and Safari. The rear end gets a sculpted tailgate with an integrated roof spoiler. The Y-shaped tail lamps are pretty much the same as we saw on the concept car. Proper body cladding with the squared wheel arches gives the car quite an appealing SUV-like stance and outlook.
Given the popularity of SUVs in the market, the Punch will have a lot of fan following. The interiors, too, follow the HBX concept to a great extent. The prominent free-standing touchscreen with square air-con vents will make the occupants feel like sitting in a car of a segment above. There are some shared parts with the Altroz, which is definitely a great thing.
With the growing demand for SUVs in the market, customers now have a plethora of options. Tata Punch enters the competition in the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger territory, i.e., the 5 lakh to 10 lakh price bracket. And we expect Tata Motors to price its car aggressively to take on this ever-growing cut-throat competition in the SUV/crossover segment.
