Tata Punch expected to score 5-Star in Global NCAP crash test rating

Tata’s latest launch, Punch, has caught the attention of quite a lot of people. From the initial impression, the car has all the elements that will attract a healthy bunch of buyers. The SUV-like exteriors coupled with modern-looking interiors make the Punch one of the top choices in its segment. In recent years, Tata Motors passenger range of vehicles has been in much demand. And with the introduction of Punch, Tata Motors has made its entry to a new segment hence expanding its portfolio.

Tata Punch’s Rumoured Safety Rating

One of the main reasons that made Tata Motor’s so successful in recent years is its safety rating. Nexon was the first-ever Indian car to score a perfect 5-star safety rating. And this impacted the market significantly. Previously, customers did not pay much attention to the safety aspects of a car while making a decision. But now, times are changing, and safety rating is one of the first and vital parameters for potential customers.

Tata Motor’s top-selling Altroz also has a perfect 5-star safety rating. As per rumours, Tata Punch too will continue with this legacy. And this is also not a surprise as both Punch and Altroz share the same ALFA-ARC platform. If this turns out to be true, we must confess that rival automotive companies will indeed feel the heat. The segment in which Punch is competing has very little competition in the safety department. Moreover, this can also turn out to be the USP of Tata Punch.

Other Details

Tata Motors is offering the Punch with a single-engine and two gearbox options. The engine is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit that matches a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. As of now, Tata Motors has not unveiled the prices for the car. But, we understand that Tata Motors will most likely price the Punch quite aggressively. And hence we anticipate it to fall in the 5 to 8 lakh price bracket. The other options in this segment include the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai NIOS, Mahindra KUV100, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and more.
