Tata has introduced a new (S) trim on the Tata Nexon SUV which is positioned between the XZ+ and the top of the line XZ+ (O) trims. The XZ+ (S) is priced at INR 10.10 lakh ex-showroom, India. The XZ+ (S) bridges the gap between the XZ+ and the XZ+ (O) as it is priced INR 60,000 more than the XZ+ but INR 30,000 less than the XZ+ (O).

In terms of exterior styling, there are no changes in the new XZ+ (S) trim but on the equipment front, the XZ+ (S) features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped gear knob, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency roadside assistance, What3Words address-based navigation system, Xpress cool air-conditioning settings, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control and electric sunroof with tilt function.
The XZ+ (S) gains all these features over the XZ+ trim which are also available on the top-spec XZ+ (O) with the addition of features such iRA telematics, live vehicle diagnostics, remote vehicle control such as lock, horn and headlight using a connected mobile phone app, trip analytics, valet mode, vehicle location and geofencing. The wearable Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) key is only available with the XZA+ trim.
Recently the brand upgraded the Tata Nexon to BS6 emission standards and the new BS6 Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that produces 120 ps of power and 170 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission and an option of a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The new BS6 engine retains the power output but produces more torque than the BS4 version which made a peak torque of 110 Nm.
The Tata Nexon is also available with a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine that produces 110 ps of power and 260 Nm of torque available in a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed AMT transmission. Both engines are available with three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport.
The Tata Nexon is positioned in the highly contested mid-size SUV segment and competes with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV300 and the Ford EcoSport.
