Test mule of a Tata Nexon has been spotted. The images of the same have leaked online. While this is nothing new as Tata is known to ply the test mules of various cars already in production, this time around we have some new information. The Tata Nexon facelift is set to get Harrier-inspired tail lights. Similar smoked tail lamps are also seen on the Safari as well.
What’s new in the upcoming Tata Nexon?
Tata has added new features and cosmetic design changes to the Tata Nexon over the years. These include a facelift back in 2020. Now, once again, Tata is looking to update the Nexon. However this time the changes are expected to be more of an evolution of the existing design rather than any radical updates.
Primary amongst this is the smoked rear tail lamps. Compared to the current Nexon’s setup, the new tail lamps are larger and also wider. Further, these bear a good resemblance to the ones on the Harrier and Safari.
Other Features of the upcoming Tata Nexon
Tata is most likely to offer a new DCT gearbox on the Nexon. Tata could borrow this from the Altroz DCT. This will replace the 6-speed AMT gearbox in the petrol powertrain mostly.
On the inside, the car will also come with the larger 10.2-inch touchscreen system that is found on the Red Dark Editions of the Nexon and Altroz. It will come with a new user interface that is expected to be more advanced and intuitive than the current UI.
Tata could also offer ADAS features on the Nexon. This could make the Nexon the first sub 4m SUV to come with this advanced safety feature. Safety features could include 6 airbags amongst others.
Powertrain of the upcoming Tata Nexon
Tata will mostly retain the existing engines. These include the 1,2-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The petrol unit could be offered with an optional DCT gearbox. The petrol engine makes 118 BHP and 260 Nm while the diesel unit is good for 123 BHO and 225 Nm of torque. Standard transmission on both the engines is a 6-speed manual. The diesel also comes with a 6-speed AMT.
