Tata Nexon EV MAX is in the news yet again. This time the SUV has made a landmark entry into the India Book of Records. The Tata Nexon EV MAX successfully scaled the world’s highest motorable road at Umling La pass, in Ladakh at 19,024 Ft. With this, the Nexon EV Max became the 1st ever electric car to achieve this feat. This feat demonstrates the inherent capabilities of Tata EVs even in high altitude conditions. A team of drivers started the journey from Leh. Tata mentioned that they completed this on September 18, 2022.
Nexon EV Max makes use of Tata Motor’s much coveted Ziptron technology. Tata Motors built it on pillars of comfort, reliability, performance, technology, and charging. The Ziptron EV architecture is a result of testing over 450 million km across diverse and challenging Indian terrain. Thus this achievement is a testament to the thrilling performance the Nexon EV Max offers.
Since it entered the personal EV space in 2020, Tata Motors has been the leader in the 4-wheeler EV market. With over 40,000 EVs on the Indian road, around 30,000 are Nexon EVs. This makes Nexon EV the largest-selling 4-wheeler EV in India, with a commanding market share of 63 per cent as per FY22 figures.
Key features of Nexon EV MAX include an ARAI-certified range of 437 km, ESP with i-VBAC, Hill Descent Control, IP-67 rated battery pack and motor, and Auto-dimming IRVM. The electric SUV’s high ground clearance, high-water wading capability, Electronic Parking Brake, and Auto Vehicle Hold also make it quite an attractive overall package. These features also make the electric SUV capable of being driven in any terrain conditions. Tata Motors proved this by driving it on the world’s highest motorable road.
The Multi-mode regen feature is a great utility in high altitudes as it adds range to the vehicle when coming downhill. The convenience of multiple charging options such as DC fast charging, AC fast charging, or regular charging from any 15 A plug point also helps greatly. Thus the user can operate in remote areas as well.
