Tata Motors marks its name in the Indian Book of Records. The electric SUV made headlines by becoming the ‘Fastest’ to travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari by an EV. Tata had earlier announced its plans to attempt the record a few days ago. And now the Nexon EV has become the first EV to attempt such a record in India.
As part of this drive, the Nexon EV completed the drive of 4003 km in 95 hours and 46 minutes. This translates to less than 4 days. This figure proves the electric SUV’s ability to undertake multi-city trips. In addition to this, we should also mention the charging facilities. This non-stop drive was also possible only because of the availability of public charging networks present on Indian Highways.
The total of 28 hours resulted in 21 stops for fast charging throughout the trip. Another key highlight was that the Nexon EV not only saved up on time in the completion of the total trip. But this drive was also much more economical when compared to an ICE vehicle.
During the drive, the Nexon EV came up with an average real-world range of 300+km. Also, in addition to the ‘Fastest’ drive by an EV record, the Nexon EV has bagged 23 additional records.
This achievement proves the capability of the Tata Nexon EV. In fact, this drive also highlights the availability of healthy charging infrastructure across the country. As per the carmaker, there was a fast charging station at regular intervals, between 75 kms -100kms. This statistic is of great importance and a big green flag for India’s EV ecosystem.
With the increase in demand for EVs across the country. Tata Motors Nexon is having a great time in terms of sales figures. The SUV is currently the most-sold EV four-wheeler by a wide margin.
