Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated CNG variant of its popular compact SUV, the Tata Nexon. This new model is set to offer two gearbox options, providing consumers with greater flexibility and choice.
Diverse Gearbox Options
The Tata Nexon CNG will be available with both a 5-speed manual transmission and an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The 5-speed manual gearbox is expected to provide a more engaging driving experience, allowing drivers to have greater control over gear shifts. On the other hand, the AMT option will cater to urban drivers who prioritize ease of use and comfort, especially in heavy traffic conditions. We saw the similar application in the Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT versions.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the Nexon CNG will feature the same 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine found in its petrol counterpart. This engine is known for its robust performance and efficiency. The addition of a CNG option will make the Nexon one of the few vehicles in its segment to offer a turbocharged CNG engine, setting it apart from competitors.
The CNG variant is expected to deliver better fuel efficiency, making it an attractive option for cost-conscious consumers. The combination of a turbocharged engine and CNG fuel is anticipated to provide a good balance of power and economy, ensuring that the Nexon CNG remains a versatile and practical choice for a wide range of driving conditions.
Market Positioning and Competition
The Tata Nexon CNG will compete directly with other CNG models in the market, such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. Tata Motors’ decision to offer two gearbox options is likely to give the Nexon CNG a competitive edge, appealing to a diverse customer base. T
