Having lost up to 20% market share in the commercial vehicles segment in the past couple of years, Tata Motors is all set to give its LCV range a complete revamp.
Tata Motors is expected to launch a new 1.5 – 2 tonne pick-up truck, a brand-new Xenon pick-up and newer versions of the Ace and Super Ace in a year or two. The Xenon is expected to be based on an all-new platform, and will include a similar passenger oriented and commercial vehicle oriented variants.
Reports also suggest that the company is working on adding AMT gearboxes to commercial vehicles. This is expected to increase the life of parts such as the clutch, which cannot be maintained by a driver as good as the AMT gearbox can. The Xenon, Ultra and Prima range of commercial vehicles are expected to get an AMT gearbox by next year.
