Tata Motors has announced a new deal with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). TML CV Mobility Solutions Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors has signed a definitive agreement with DTC for the operation of 1500 electric buses.
As part of the agreement, TML CV Mobility Services will supply, operate and maintain 1,500 electric units for a period of 12 years. The buses are 12-meter Tata Starbus EV low-floor air-conditioned electric buses. The Starbus EV is the indigenously developed bus with a superior design and best in class features. The bus aims to offer a sustainable and comfortable journey.
This agreement is for one of the largest orders of electric buses in Delhi. The main aim of the initiative is to embrace electric mobility in the capital city. The electric buses will also help in improving the air quality of the Delhi-NCR region. The buses come with ultra-modern features and comfortable seating. The electric buses will offer sustainable, safe and comfortable public transportation to the commuters of Delhi
Apart from electric buses, Tata Motors also offers solutions for mobility powered by alternative fuel technology. This includes hybrid, CNG, LNG and Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology. At present, Tata has provided over 730 electric buses across India and these have racked in more than 55 million km combined. The buses have also reported an uptime of over 95%.
As of today, Tata Motors is India’s market leader in commercial vehicles. It is also amongst the top three in the passenger vehicles segment. The company is looking at introducing new products that fire the imagination of GenNext customers. One of the main focus areas for the Indian company is the engineering and tech-enabled automotive solutions.
