Tata Motors registered a total sales of 76,210 units for January 2022, up from 59,866 units in January 2021. When compared to the same period last year, there has been a growth of 27 per cent. These figures indicate sales, including both domestic as well as international markets. In the domestic market, Tata Motors posted a total sales of 72,485 units. Meanwhile, for January 2021, the figure stood at 57,649 units. This translates to a growth of 26 per cent.
In the domestic, commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors sold a total of 31,708 units, up from 30,671 units for the same period last year. In terms of exports, Tata Motors exported 3,560 commercial vehicles. The figure is 2,145 units for January 2021, thus translating to a growth of 66 per cent. In the domestic passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors posted a total sales of 37,885 units in the ICE segment. The same for January 2021 stood at 26,464 units, thus resulting in a growth of 43 per cent. Meanwhile, in the EV segment, Tata Motors posted a total sales of 2,892 units, up from 514 units for the same period last year. This translates to a staggering growth of 463 per cent.
With the growing demand for EVs in the market, Tata Motors is doing pretty well in this segment. Being the flagship EV product from Tata Motors, Nexon is attracting significant sales volume. Alongside Nexon, the carmaker has two other EV offerings in its portfolio. This includes the Tigor EV and the Xpres T EV.
Recently spy shots of an SUV emerged on the internet that looks like the Nexon EV Long Range version. As per sources, Nexon will get an upgraded battery pack along with other minor changes like all four discs and more. With this, we can expect a real-world mileage of 300 km, 100 km more than what the current iteration delivers. With strong demand in the EV segment, we can expect Tata Motors to come up with more products in the future.
