Tata Motors registered big booking numbers for the newly launched Zest compact sedan, but the effect isn’t resulting in the sales numbers. Tata Motors has sold 11,931 units in the month of September 2014 as opposed to 12,839 units in September 2013 which is down by 7%. Utility vehicle sales also declined by almost 30% to 2,165 units in September 2014.
The Indian marque needs to find a strong hold in the segment and soon, otherwise, it will loose more market share to the competition. Products from Tata Motors weren’t something significant in the past and loyalists moved to other and more reliable brands. With the Zest, the market showed high levels on interest in the car, but seems like that is not helping in the sales numbers.
