At Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors unveiled the Altroz Racer. This is the sportiest version of the Altroz hatchback yet. The most important additions to the Altroz Racer are a new digital instrument cluster, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, and a sunroof.
One of the key highlights of the Altroz Racer is its engine options. Although it continues to get the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo. This motor now makes 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque which is 10hp and 30 Nm more than the iTurbo.
Interestingly, the Altroz Racer is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, instead of the 5-speed manual that is found in the iTurbo. As of now, there is no confirmation if it will get the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The Altroz Racer is pretty much the same in terms of exterior styling as the regular Altroz. But there are some changes that set it apart. First is the electrically adjustable sunroof with voice assist, and this is a first for any Altroz variant. Then it also gets a blacked-out roof and bonnet with twin white racing stripes as well as Racer badges on the front fenders. At the rear, the Altroz also gets a more pronounced rear spoiler along with a shark fin antenna that gives it a distinctive outlook.
As mentioned, the Altroz Racer uses a brand-new 10.25-inch touchscreen unit with new software. Furthermore, it also equips a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, six airbags, wireless charging and an air purifier as standard. The Altroz Racer also benefits from new all-black upholstery with red contrast stitching, red and white stripes, and Racer embossing on the head restraints.
As of now, Tata has not mentioned the launch timeline for the Altroz Racer. If the Altroz Racer makes it onto the road, it will rival the Hyundai i20 N Line, which retails in the price bracket of INR 9.99 lakh to INR 12.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
