Recently, it was being rumoured that Tata Motors is discontinuing the diesel engine on the Tata Nexon. Tata Motors has now clarified that the brand is not discontinuing the entire diesel line from the Nexon brand. Instead, the brand will only discontinue select variants and introduce updates in other models.
The Tata Nexon is available in 20 variants starting from INR 7.20 lakh ex-showroom for the petrol. In the diesel avatar, the Tata Nexon starts from INR 8.50 lakh ex-showroom. The range includes twelve petrol variants and eight diesel variants. Both petrol and diesel engine variants come with manual and automatic transmissions. Tata Motors further announces that the brand, through market feedback, refreshes its range from time to time. The Tata Nexon is one of the most popular compact SUV, especially in its diesel avatar, and the brand looks forward to growing demand and loyal following.
Powering the Tata Nexon is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine turbo-petrol engine that produces 20 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. The Nexon comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque in the diesel avatar. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT automatic option.
Tata Motors recently updated the Nexon on the exteriors as well as the interiors. The compact SUV now comes with a new design on the alloy wheels. The new wheels come with a new simplified design with 5-spokes and a dual-tone finish. The new alloy wheels will also come with a machine finish similar to the predecessor. The older model came with an 8-spoke alloy wheel which also came with a machine finish.
On the interiors, the Nexon now features a minimalist design on the dashboard. The brand has now eliminated the hotkeys from under the infotainment screen. The hotkeys consisted of Home, Favourites, Previous/Next, Smartphone, the Back button and two rotary knobs. The new dashboard also comes with a unique stylised ‘Nexon’ logo.
