Tata Motors has announced that the company has registered sales of 158,215 units in the domestic & international market for the Q3 of FY2021 as compared to 129,381 vehicles during the Q3 FY20. In December of 2020, the brand sold 53,430 units in the Total domestic market as opposed to 44,254 which is a growth of 24%. In the Passenger vehicle segment, the brand has registered sales of 23,545 units against 12,785 units in December 2019 showing 84% growth over the same period.
In the M&HCV category, the brand sold 8,377 units in December 2020 against 6,957 units in December 2019 showing 20% growth. In the I & LCV category, Tata Motors recorded sales of 4,619 units as against 4,290 units in December 2019 showing 8% growth over the period. But the passenger carrier segment recorded 751 units of sales as opposed to 3,293 units in the same period last year showing that the segment has de-grown by -77%. The SCV cargo and pickup segment the brand registered 13,177 units in sales as opposed to 16,929 units showing -5% in the negative.
To push the sales momentum forward, Tata is also planning to introduce at least two new vehicles in the first half of 2021. The brand has teased us with a new iteration of the popular hot hatchback, the Tata Altroz which is expected to come with a new turbocharged-petrol engine and a new 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission). The new Tata Altroz is also expected to feature a new shade of Blue. The current model comes with High-Street Gold, Downtown Red, Avenue White, Skyline Silver and Midtown Grey colour options.
Apart from the Tata Altroz, the brand is also planning to launch the Tata Gravitas SUV in the Indian market which is based on the 5-seater Tata Harrier SUV but comes with 6/7-seats. The brand has also given the Gravitas some differentiation factors and the SUV was showcased at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi at the beginning of 2020.
