Tata Motors is a key leader in the EV space. The company set a target to sell one in every two cars as electric by the end of the decade. Tata Motors is the market leader in the electric passenger vehicle segment in the country. The carmaker has already announced a portfolio of 10 products by 2026. With this, Tata Motors will help expand its EV portfolio with options available in the range of INR 10 lakh to INR 40 lakh.
Currently, Tata Motors has Tiago, Tigor and Nexon in the electric portfolio base. Tata Motors is now moving up the price ladder, and range and aims at adding more premium products to the market.
Over the next couple of years, Tata Motors will offer electric alternatives in the INR 20 lakh to 40 lakh range. We could see the likes of Harrier, Curvv, Sierra and Avinya in this range.
Tata Motors has finally showcased the new Harrier EV concept at the Auto Expo 2023. This Harrier EV is still a concept in a close-to-production guise. We expect the SUV to go on sale in the market in 2024.
The Harrier EV concept uses the same Land Rover-derived Omega architecture. This is the same we see in the ICE-powered Harrier. As of now, Tata did not reveal its exact battery capacity or electric motor specifications. However, Tata Motors has hinted that it will come with a dual-motor all-wheel drive set-up. The Harrier EV will most likely come with a battery capacity of around 60kWh. Thus we are expecting a real-world range of around 400-500 km.
