Tata Motors Investing Heavily In Electric Vehicles

In the EV segment, Tata Motors sold over 1,022 units for August 2021, whereas for July 2021, the figure was 604. Compared to the same period last year, i.e. August 2020, the sales figure was 306, which translates to a staggering growth of 234 percent. These growth rates prove the current increasing demand for electric vehicles in the market.

Leveraging the demand, Tata Motors has recently launched the electric version of the Tigor. This electric sedan has an ARAI-rated claimed mileage of 306 km, 6 km short of what the Nexon delivers. But, in real-world driving, Tigor will likely deliver a better range given its lightweight and more aerodynamic body design. Nexon EV is the second electric passenger offering from Tata Motors. Tata Motors has put on a sticker price of INR 11.99 lakh for the base XE trim of the Tigor EV. Meanwhile, the top-spec XZ Plus Dual Tone retails at an ex-showroom price of INR 13.14 lakh (ex-showroom).
