Tata Motors has introduced the Tata Signa 5525.S in the brand’s Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment. The Signa 5525.S is the country’s highest GCW (Gross Combination Weight) prime mover (tractor) in 4×2 segment. The Signa 5525.S is available with 51T, 52T, 53T, 54T and the highest GCW of 55T (ARAI Certified) with appropriate trailer combination offering maximum profitability to the customer.
The Signa 5525.S is powered by a BS6 emissions-compliant 6.7-litre Cummins diesel engine that produces 250 Hp of power and 950 Nm of torque, with a flat torque curve ranging 1000-1800 RPM matched to a G1150 9-speed gearbox, coupled to a 430mm diameter organic clutch. The power is transferred via a heavy-duty RA110 rear axle that provides enhanced pulling power and is designed for demanding terrain and multiple application requirements.
The powertrain also comes with three drive modes – Light, Medium and Heavy. Additionally, a Gear shift Advisor also ensures optimum power and torque selection, depending on the terrain and load. The on-drive coach also helps the driver in selecting the optimum gear improving fuel efficiency and reducing the maintenance. This also helps minimise the turn around time and maximise profitability for the fleet operator.
The model is designed with Tata Motors’ Power of 6 philosophy that offers enhanced performance, higher payload capacity, a lower total cost of ownership, higher comfort and safety for the driver. The new model is available with the brand’s latest Signa cabin that offers a 3-way mechanically adjustable driving seat, tilt & telescopic steering system, spacious sleeper berth and adequate utility space.
The suspended cabin comes with improved NVH levels that make the ride comfortable even on undulated surfaces and rough terrain. For driver comfort, the cabin also comes with an Ambient Air Temperature sensor and an airconditioning system that reduces driving fatigue. The cabin also provides safety and offers equipment such as a solid steel 3-piece bumper, a rearview mirror with a blind-spot mirror and a high commanding driving position.
