Tata Harrier EV spotted again, appears in final stages of testing

Tata Motors is ramping up to introduce new electric vehicles in the Indian market. Following the recent facelift releases of the Nexon and Nexon EV, Tata’s spotlight now shifts to the upcoming products from the electric vehicle (EV) segment, with the much-anticipated Tata Harrier EV leading the charge.

Spy Shots Reveal Clues

The latest spy shots of the Harrier EVoffer some intriguing insights. While the heavily camouflaged test mule doesn’t showcase any drastic design overhauls, certain subtle hints suggest this could indeed be the electric variant. Most notably, the absence of a visible tailpipe—a stark contrast to the current internal combustion engine (ICE) Harrier—implies Tata is possibly testing EV components on an older Harrier model, keeping us all in suspense.

Expected Specifications

Details on the battery pack are still under wraps, but industry whispers suggest the Harrier EV will sport a 60 to 70 kWh battery pack. The claimed range is pegged at around 550 km, with a realistic, real-world range of about 400 km. Additionally, Tata Motors has confirmed an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup for the Harrier EV, a feature that’s sure to appeal to enthusiasts seeking both performance and sustainability.

Launch Timeline

Tata recently teased the Harrier facelift, with its launch expected by mid-October. As for the Harrier EV, Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors, has unveiled ambitious plans to launch four new EVs, including the Harrier EV, by 2024. While pricing remains speculative, estimates place it in the ₹27 lakh to ₹35 lakh range (on-road, Mumbai).

With its aggressive foray into the EV sector and a slew of new launches on the horizon, Tata Motors continues to redefine the landscape of the Indian automotive market. Stay tuned as we track the journey of the Harrier EV and other exciting innovations from Tata.
