Tata H7X Buzzard which is a 7-seater Harrier to be launched as ‘Gravitas’

Tata Motors has officially revealed the name of their upcoming 7-seater SUV – the Gravitas. Codenamed as the H7X and then revealed as the Buzzard SUV at the Geneva Motor Show 2019, the Tata Gravitas is nothing but a 7-seater version of the Harrier. The Tata Gravitas will become the flagship SUV for the brand, slotting above the Hexa which is technically a 6-seater model but capable of going off-road.

Just like the Harrier, the Tata Gravitas will also be based on the Land Rover D8 platform which has derived the new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) Architecture for Tata Motors. The Land Rover D8 chassis has been heavily reworked for the Indian buyer requirement and the Gravitas claims to be able to set benchmarks in performance, luxury and driving dynamics.

Tata Gravitas will be officially launched in February 2020.

The Gravitas will be launched with a BSVI compliant diesel engine from day 1. This motor will be sourced from the FCA Group, also seen under the hood of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk. This same motor will also go under the hood of the MG Hector in due course of time. Tata Motors will launch the Gravitas with a manual and automatic gearbox option, and will also get smart electronics features which will mimic off-road modes even though a true 4×4 / AWD system will not be on offer.

The highlight of the Tata Gravitas is the 3rd row seat. The 7-seater variant of the Gravitas will have 2 additional jump seats, and the roof line of the SUV has also been reworked to allow for better comfort in the cabin. These seats can also be tumble folded which will allow for a humongous boot, which will be higher in comparison to the Harrier.

Wait and watch for more details of the Tata Buzzard in the coming weeks. For now, the brand is all set to launch the Altroz premium hatchback in India to rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Elite i20.
