Tata Motors has pulled the covers off the much anticipated electric concept. The brand has been teasing the new electric concept SUV under the Evolve Electric initiative. Now, the brand has virtually revealed the CURVV Concept study, which Tata will put into production in the next two years. Tata Motors announced that the new CURVV electric SUV would first debut with an electric powertrain followed by ICE powertrain options. However, Tata Motors has not revealed when Tata will launch the ICE-powertrain model in the Indian market.
Tata has revealed that the nomenclature CURVV draws inspiration from the coupe-esque roofline. However, the concept study comes with plenty of sharp cuts and crease lines, offering a futuristic design. On the front, the CURVV features an aggressive apron flanked by a triangular light signature. The concept also features a blank grille with a wraparound LED DRL and Tata Motors logo protruding out from the centre. The electric concept SUV also gets a floating C-pillar design and a progressive roofline.
The SUV also features a boxy rear end with wraparound LED taillamps and high-mount stop lamps around the windscreen. The CURVV also features aerodynamic alloy wheels to improve the efficiency of the vehicle. Tata also revealed that the CURVV concept SUV’s design keeps in mind the aerodynamic load, and most design features are likely to trickle down to the production model.
The Tata CURVV concept SUV has revealed a new interior concept featuring a multilayered dashboard with twin-screens independent of each other. The CURVV concept also features a unique design on the steering wheel that offers multiple functions. A third touch panel on the lower dashboard offers controls for the air conditioning. The dashboard also features hidden AC air vents and a minimalist design. The centre console also features a rotary drive mode selector and hotkeys for various operations. The concept car also features contoured seats with textured fabric, ambient lighting, connected features with OTA updates, and cloud connectivity powered by edge computing.
The Tata CURVV concept will feature generation 2, an evolution of the TATA X1 platform. The gen2 platform will come with V2L and V2V charging. The platform also supports faster charging capacity in both AC and DC charging. The modular platform is capable of offering multiple motor and battery configurations. The brand could introduce an all-wheel-drive variant if the demand exists.
Tata reveals that the CURVV will come with a high-energy-density lithium-ion battery pack which will be capable of returning a range of 400-500 km on a single charge. The powertrain will be an evolution of the Ziptron power unit and comes with an optimised state of charge and regenerative braking. The regenerative braking on the CURVV will also be user customisable with a coasting option.
