Tata Avinya EV new two-spoke steering wheel details

The design patent image of Avinya’s steering wheel shows that the production model will get the majority of the design elements carried over from the concept model.

The steering wheel seen here is a new two-spoke unit that features an oval shape with leather stitching. Moreover, it has two touch panels, one on each side, that feature multimedia control, ADAS controls, cruise control, and other functions.

Since the design patent is similar to the concept images, we are assuming that the interiors of the production model will get a sleek dashboard with a slim digital console and a big infotainment screen on the centre console.

Tata showcased the Avinya X at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 earlier this year. However, its interior design and specifications were not disclosed.

Considering the fact that Avinya is supposed to share its platform with the upcoming Land Rover EV SUVs, we can safely assume that it will get RWD and AWD options. The maximum driving range could be north of 500km.

However, these plans have been put on hold recently as JLR has withdrawn its plans to assemble its upcoming EVs in Chennai with the help of Tata. This is a setback to the upcoming Avinya range as these models were supposed to use the JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA).

As of now, the critical details about the Avinya EV remain elusive.

Our verdict

Before the Avinya debuts, Tata has other critical models to launch. These include the Harrier EV, which will most likely launch in the coming weeks. Following it, will be the iconic Sierra moniker that will debut in the latter half of this year.
