Tata Altroz to ditch the wearable smart key

Altroz from Tata Motors comes with a very convenient wearable key. But, this will change in 2023, as the company plans to discontinue this feature. The PEPS wearable band is currently available only for the XT, XZ and XZ+ variants of the Altroz. However, as per recent reports from January 2023, customers will only get two PEPS smart keys instead.

The leaked document also confirms that the XE variant will now come with two mechanical keys. Meanwhile, the XE+ and XM+ variants will get a mechanical key and a foldable key with a remote. This is not a new thing. It’s common practice for automakers to tweak the features list on products. Earlier this year, Tata had rejigged the Altroz variant line-up by slashing a handful of petrol and diesel variants.

Then we have a 1.5-litre diesel that makes 90PS and 200Nm. All the units use a five-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated petrol gets the option of six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
