In Q1 of FY-22, Tata Motors has sold 15,896 units of the Tata Altroz hatchback. Compared to the brand’s direct competitor, the Hyundai i20 registered sales of 14,775 units. With the new sales number Tata Motors Cars, the brand’s official Twitter handle posted a message. The message reads, “mportant! ALTROZ beats t’s rval n Q1 FY-22 wth an mpressve margn. ndans are choosng nda’s safest hatch. t s an ncredble feelng to drve the dstance wth your support.” Tata also deciphered the message with a text that says, “There are 20 ‘i’ missing here. For ALTROZ made it disappear.”
One of the reasons for a good sales number of the Altroz is the safety rating the car comes with. The Tata Altroz scored a full 5-stars for safety at the Global NCAP, and Tata Motors aggressively promotes the achievement. And why not? People deserve a safe car in India, and customers have become aware of road safety in the Indian market. Customers are also ready to choose features over safety as well. Having said that, we are still awaiting a safety rating to come in for the new Hyundai i20.
According to Hyundai, the new K Platform Enhanced Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) with 13% improved tensile strength. The car also comes with improved crash energy flow, enhanced torsional rigidity, a Robust Superstructure with 66% AHSS manufactured using ‘High-quality grade coils’. The i20 is built on a Global Body Build Line 100 % Weld Automation using 4504th Generation Robots using a flawless process confirmed by a three-stage advance quality confirmation. The brand also boasts that 80% of the i20’s parts are assembled using a 100% systemized 3 stage dynamic tightening confirmation system and goes through a 324-point check in HIDIS (Hyundai Integrated Digital Inspection System) for quality check.
The brand has been cocky in the past as well, when Tata posted a broken coffee cup, taking a dig at the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso when the car failed miserably at the Global NCAP crash test. The brand also took out to Twitter when the Hyundai Grand i10 scored just 2 stars for safety at the Global NCAP. The brand compared both the cars with the Tiago. The entry-level Tata hatchback scored 4 out of 5 stars for safety at the Global NCAP’s Safety Test.
