Tata is gearing up to launch the new Tata Altroz Racer in the Indian market. The new Altroz Racer will come with an uprated engine as well as new features on the inside. The brand has not revealed the timeline of the Altroz Racer but it is likely to make its market debut this year.
Now, a test mule of the Altroz Racer doing rounds of the near Pune leads us to believe that the Altroz Racer is in the final stages of testing. Furthermore, the test mule was seen with emission testing equipment gathering data from the new engine. Upon launch the Tata Altroz Racer will go head to head with the Hyundai i20 N Line.
The Tata Altroz Racer will come with the same 1.2-litre turbo GDI engine with three-cylinders. However, the engine is now said to produce 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to come with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) option.
In addition to this, Tata is likely to use a full aluminium block for the engine. This is likely to help shed weight. Also, the the new construction is also likely to make it stiffer than before. Furthermore, Tata could also use cam phasing technology for variable valve timing. The turbocharger is also likely to come with water cooling technology to enhance performance.
The Tata Altroz Racer will come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a new generation two-spoke steering wheel. The Altroz Racer is also likely to come with a sunroof, popular with Indian customers. Also, the car will come with a toggle style climate control and fully-digital instruments cluster. The Altroz Racer will also get a distinctive colourway, black theme alloy wheels, new graphics and interior themes.
