Tata Motors could be planning to launch the Altroz Racer soon in the Indian market. According to media reports, the Indian car manufacturer is gearing up to launch the sporty Altroz Racer hot hatch which was showcased twice but not confirmed for its market debut.
At the biennial event of the Auto Expo, Tata showcased the Altroz Racer. Again at the Bharat Mobility Expo the brand showcased the sporty hatchback with minor changes. Howeve, Tata has not confirmed when the company plans to bring the Altroz Racer to Indian streets. However, a media report suggests that Tata will be launching the sportier Altroz in the coming weeks.
The Tata Altroz Racer is the sportier iteration of the standard Altroz. It receives an uprated engine and new features. Powering the Tata Altroz Racer is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo GDI engine with a state of tune similar to the Nexon SUV. The engine will produce 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. Though the engine is based on the Altroz iTurbo the engine is tuned to produce 10 Hp and 30 Nm more than the iTurbo engine. Tata is likely to offer the Altroz Racer with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, there are no reports of an automatic gearbox available with the Altroz Racer.
In addition to the uprated engine, the brand is also likely to offer the Altroz Racer with sportier colourway and new alloy wheels. The Tata Altroz Racer will come with a dual tone paint finish and ‘Racer’ badging on the fenders. The car also comes with a slightly refreshed grille and 16-inch alloy wheels with a new design.
On the inside, the Altroz Racer features a 10.25–inch touchscreen infotainment system, a heads-up display and sunroof with voice commands. The hot hatchback is also likely to come with front ventilated seats which will be a segment first. The car also gets a ‘Racer’ specific interior theme in Black and Red colours.
The Altroz Racer is likely to lock horns with the Hyundai i20 N Line in the Indian market.
