Tata Altroz production begins at Pune plant, 1st car rolls out

Tata Motors has officially rolled out the first production unit of the Altroz premium hatchback. It will be the first time Tata Motors will enter the B2 hatchback segment with an ideal offering to rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 & Volkswagen Polo. The Tata Altroz production has begun at their Pune plant, and the market launch is scheduled for January 2020. Tata Motors is confident that the Altroz will set a new GOLD STANDARD in the premium hatchback segment in terms of space, design, performance and technology.

Pricing expectation for the Tata Altroz is around INR 5.5 lakh – INR 8.5 lakh ex-showroom. The Altroz will slot above the Tata Tiago. The Altroz is the first car to be launched on the new ALFA chassis platform and the 2nd car from the brand to be based on the Impact Design 2.0 language.

The Tata Altroz was first revealed to the masses in the form of 45X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Tata Altroz later went to the Geneva motor show as an electric version which hints that the Altroz EV will also be scheduled for a launch later in 2020. So apart from conventional BSVI ready petrol and diesel engines, Tata motors will also have the Altroz EV which will share most of its components with the Nexon EV slated for a debut in the coming weeks.

The roll out image of the Tata Altroz reveals the following details of the car – black roof, contrast painted ORVM with LED turn indicators, wide front air dam, high mounted fog lamp, LED DRLs, projector headlamp, chrome accents running from headlamp to headlamp on either sides, gloss black applique over the grille and a regular roof antenna.

The Tata Altroz is going to be leaps and bounds ahead of other larger hatchbacks from the brand which included the Indica Vista & Bolt. In comparison, there is a lot of expectations from the Tata Altroz since the B2 segment does have high volumes demand on the sales side, month-on-month.
