Tata Motors launched the new Tata Altroz DCA last week with a dual-clutch transmission adding the first automatic transmission to the Altroz portfolio. The new Altroz DCA comes with the world’s first transmission with a planetary gearbox and liquid cooling specially designed to handle the Indian driving conditions. The transmission also features a new wet clutch that claims to offer a seamless driving experience. Tata Altroz DCA – Price and Colours
The Tata Altroz DCA in the XMA+ variant comes with a starting price of INR 8,09,900 ex-showroom. The brand offers the XTA variant with a price tag of INR 8,59,900 ex-showroom. The XZA comes with a price tag of INR 9,09,900 ex-showroom. The XZA (O) trim comes with a price tag of INR 9,21,900 ex-showroom, and the XZA+ comes with a price tag of INR 9,59,900 ex-showroom. Tata is also offering the Altroz DCA in the #Dark edition priced at INR 9,05,900 ex-showroom for the XTA Dark variant and INR 9,89,900 ex-showroom for the XZA+ Dark trim.
Tata is offering the Altroz DCA with Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, Avenue White, Harbour Blue and a special Opera Blue colour option. The brand also offers the Altroz DCA in the Cosmo Dark colour specially developed for the Dark Edition Altroz DCA.
Tata Altroz DCA – Engine and Gearbox
The new Tata Altroz DCA is available with the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated engine. The motor produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed Dual-Clutch Automatic transmission with a wet clutch. The new DCA transmission features 35% fewer mechanical components compared to conventional Dual-Clutch Transmissions. The gearbox also features a single layshaft instead of two that claims to offer more reliability and improved shift quality. The brand is also offering separated clutch plates that reduce heating which is helpful in Indian terrain and weather conditions.
Tata Altroz DCA – Gearbox Features
The new DCA gearbox comes with features such as shift-by-wire and machine learning technology. Thanks to this technology, the transmission system is able to record different inputs from the TCU and is able to detect drivers of the same car, thereby optimizing the drive according to each driver. The DCA gearbox also comes with self-healing technology that is capable of self-diagnosis through patented software and hardware. The DCA come with standard filters to trap dust. However, if dust particles get inside the transmission, it can detect and flush out the dirt particles using the vibration of valves and the acceleration of oil. The transmission system also comes with Auto Park Lock technology to enhance safety.
Tata Altroz DCA – Top Features
The Tata Altroz DCA also comes with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iRA Connected technology. The car also gets a semi-digital instruments cluster and voice alerts. The Altroz also gets auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and Harman tuned sound system. The Altroz has also been awarded a Global NCAP crash rating of a full 5 stars and comes with dual airbags, Antilock Braking System with Brake Sway Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Cornering Stability Control and a reverse camera.
