Tata Motors has rolled out a significant software update for the Harrier SUV, adding two crucial driver assistance features. This update, which takes around an hour to install.
The new update brings Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Adaptive Steering Assist (ASA) which enhances the Harrier’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. Besides, the update involves updating the car’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and Front Camera Module (FCM), along with the infotainment system software to version 15.18. These new features are now accessible under the ‘Driver Assist’ menu, providing animations and graphics to guide users.
Lane Keep Assist helps prevent unintentional lane departures by monitoring the vehicle’s position and gently steering it back to the center of the lane. Adaptive Steering Assist works in tandem with adaptive cruise control to maintain lane discipline and speed.
The Harrier, which already boasts a comprehensive ADAS suite, now includes features like high beam assist, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. These additions make the Harrier a safer and more convenient option for drivers.
In addition to the new ADAS features, Tata Motors has also refreshed the Harrier’s color options. The Smart and Pure trims now come in Coral Red and Pebble Grey, while the Adventure and Fearless variants gain the new Ash Grey shade. The top-tier Fearless trim also gets a unique Seaweed Green finish.
Tata Motors has also upgraded the Harrier’s interior with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a choice of 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreens, both offering navigation and seamless connectivity via wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Harrier is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. There is no petrol engine available with the SUV yet.
With these updates, Tata Motors continues to enhance the Harrier’s appeal, making it a strong contender in the competitive SUV market. The addition of Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Steering Assist further solidifies the Harrier’s position as a leader in driver safety and convenience.
