Tata 45X hatchback spotted testing in production ready guise

Tata Motors is on a roll, having revealed the upcoming Harrier SUV in all its glory, the brand is riding high on the market sentiment towards their products. And now, a new set of spyshots reveal that their 45X premium hatchback is also nearly production ready. The Baleno & i20 rival was spotted in South India fully camouflaged, but sporting parts which will finally hit the production line.

Spyshot reveals:

  • Twin pot headlamp setup with projectors
  • High mounted fog lamp
  • Wide front air dam
  • 15/16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels
  • LED tail lamps
  • Prominent shoulder line
  • Rear wash+wipe
  • Rear number plate mounted on the bumper

Some rumours have been doing the rounds that this new 45X hatchback could be called the Tata Aquilla. But all this is mere speculation.

Powering the 45X could be a BS6 ready engine line-up which will include a 1.2L Revotron petrol. It is now being said that this hatchback will bring mild-hybrid technology to segment similar to what we have seen in Maruti Suzuki cars. The engine output can be expected to be close to 90 PS of power. And what’s interesting, is that a JTP performance-spec variant will surely be on cards considering the Tiago & Tigor are sold in JTP avatar now.

When launched the Tata 45X will for the first time give access to the brand in the premium hatchback segment slotting against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 & Honda Jazz. Pricing most definitely will be competitive and Tata cars in recent times have been loaded with features, so that should continue.
