Tiguan Allspace

Volkswagen has teased us with a design sketch preview of the new Tiguan facelift. The brand has replaced the Tiguan in India with a long-wheelbase 7-seater model called the Tiguan Allspace. The brand has recently launched the Tiguan Allspace in India at the price of INR 33.12 lakh ex-showroom. The new facelift model was expected to be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the plans have been suspended and the facelift Tiguan is expected to be introduced in the next year in the International market followed by its launch in the Indian market. In terms of design and styling features, the concept design sketch of the facelift Tiguan shows a more angular and sloping design on the front fascia which appears to have quad LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a wide air dam, triangular air intakes flanking the bumper, muscular shoulder lines, raised bonnet with pronounced ridges. The interiors have not been revealed yet but it is safe to hypothesize that the brand is likely to carry forward the equipment from the current model to the facelift but upgrade the infotainment system for the new model. The Tiguan Allspace in India is powered by a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that makes 190 ps of power and 320 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox with a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The brand is likely to retain this 2.0-litre TSI petrol motor on the Tiguan facelift. Volkswagen currently manufactures the Normal Wheel Base (NWB) Tiguan at Volkswagen’s main plant in Wolfsburg, Germany and the car is sold in Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Volkswagen also manufactures the NWB Tiguan in Kaluga plant in Russia for Russian and Central Asian markets. The Long Wheel Base (LWB) Tiguan for North and South America and for countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania are produced in Puebla, Mexico and the LWB for the Chinese market is manufactured in Shanghai, China. Volkswagen brings the Tiguan Allspace (LWB) to the Indian market via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route.
